Environmental Expo: Living Green Architect 19
Post Date: 2019-02-25
ASEAN’s largest architecture expo is back for its 33rd year running to focus on the ways in which architectural practitioners can make socially and environmentally responsible decisions. Organised by the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA), the expo aims to showcase the advancements made in architecture and demonstrate what this field is capable of doing in years to come to the public. With exhibitions, activities, international conferences, services and products that ASA members as well as the public have access to, the expo will cover architecture, interior design and landscape architecture.
In its 33rd year running, ASA has decided that Architect ‘19 will have the theme of Living Green to direct architectural design towards sustainable living and eco-friendly practices. Triggered by climate change, the Architect ‘19 committee hopes that, since architects’ work has direct bearing on the environment, they can encourage them to find a solution in their work.
In practicing what it preaches, Architect ‘10 Living Green spares no effort in making the expo as environmentally conscious an event as possible. The expo will be using energy-efficient lighting as well as other eco-friendly materials, and are reducing their paper usage, increasing recycling efforts and looking into effective waste management.
The exhibitor zone which carries more than 850 brands will include environmentally focused exhibitions that consider looking to old innovations for a sustainable solution as well as showcasing eco-friendly building materials. The public can also look forward to activities, workshops and a leisure area where various events will take place. Those with housing and design issues may drop by the ASA Clinic for advice and to consult the professionals there. Another source of expert opinion will be the annual international architecture conference, ASA Forum 2019 which will have famous architects and designers as speakers including Nico Kienzl from New York’s Atelier Ten who specialises in high-rise building technology.
The ASA International Design Competition 2019’s theme this year is ‘Uncanny Sustainability’ and it invites architects and anyone interested regardless of nationality or qualification to submit a brilliant and novel design for the prize of 280,000 THB.
In alliance with partners who have made environmental sustainability their priority, the largest eco architecture and design expo in ASEAN has projected that it will see a 25% increase in visitors from last year’s whopping 400,000 visitors.
Architect ‘19 Living Green will have a mix of domestic exhibitors as well as exhibitors coming in from far and wide to showcase their products and progress. These exhibitors may also consider this a step toward breaking into the ASEAN market as well as the beginnings of mutually beneficial partnerships between these international companies and ASEAN businesses.
An expo of impressive proportions and incredible vision, Architect ‘19 Living Green is set to be an event not to be missed.
