2010 has been a fruitful year for the Singapore furniture industry and 2011 looks set to be even more promising.
The hospitality industry has been growing at a steady pace in Singapore and the region over the years. To cater to the continual growth of this industry, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) has co-located the first-ever Hospitality Asia exhibition alongside the annual International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS) and Deco Asia. It aims to build an experiential hospitality showcase by displaying the most comprehensive range of innovative product and furniture offerings from Asia and beyond.
Featuring over 60 exhibitors and attracting trade visitors that included hoteliers, resort and property developers, architects and interior designers, the responses we received at the inaugural Hospitality Asia in March 2011 have been very encouraging, and I believe there is much potential in this industry segment that's waiting to be tapped.
It's through watching market trends and staying relevant to changing needs that SFIC has continued to be the forerunner of the furniture industry. Representing 95% of the established furniture manufacturers in Singapore, SFIC has been consistently promoting the interests of its members by facilitating their exposure to the world market and developing local talents and entrepreneurship through its many initiatives.
Now into its 6th edition, the Hospitality Resources Directory has proven to be a highly useful resource that continues to serve the demands of the hospitality industry. For this, we extend our heartiest appreciation to Citrus Media Pte Ltd. I'm sure, in time, the directory will reach a wider readership and be an indispensible source of information and help.
With the steady growth of the hospitality segment in the coming years, we can look forward to greater participation and synergy between the members of the hospitality industry.
